Robotics and autonomous technology are playing an increasingly important role in the nursery sector. These advanced technologies provide innovative solutions to increase efficiency, reduce labor costs and improve precision in the cultivation process. An important part in Globus’s vision for the future is the development of autonomous nursery vehicles for a sustainable, ecologically responsible and economically profitable nursery of the future.
Together with German-based Digital Workbench, Globus is developing autonomous vehicles that can be used in the future in various practical conditions for various plant operations, cultivation monitoring and quality control.
The benefits of these technologies in the nursery sector are diverse. For example, autonomous technology can increase operational efficiency through constant monitoring and rapid response to abnormal growing conditions. In addition, labor costs can be reduced and the work for human personnel made less labor intensive.
The Globus Vision 25 is a dynamic robot platform that, thanks to its innovative chassis and steering technology with variable ground clearance and adjustable track width, offers exceptional maneuverability. The Vision 25 is very robust but exceptionally light, with a weight of only 350 kg and a load capacity of up to 150 kg.
The autonomous off-road vehicle has permanent four-wheel drive and has extensive capabilities in open field applications, even on very difficult terrain. Because the wheels can independently rotate a full 360 degrees, different steering regimes can be used. Hydraulic coupling of the individual wheels allows self-levelling of the chassis and the track width and ground clearance are adjustable. The robot remains extremely maneuverable, even in narrow spaces and within buildings and halls.
The integrated dual RTK GNSS receiver ensures precise control and excellent self-location. The camera-based steering can be activated to ensure the vehicle stays on track when working with row crops. A distinguishing feature of the Vision 25 is its innovative module package: thanks to open hardware and software interfaces, it is easy to integrate customized or proprietary applications and to expand or reduce the system as desired.
